Canada Day 2012 at the RBG

For the second consecutive year, Canada Day celebrations were held at the Royal Botanic Garden.

It was a day packed with fun for the family, especially since members of Canada's world-renowned Cirque du Soleil were on hand to entertain the crowd.

The event took place on Saturday June 30, 2012, one day before Canada's official annual celebration date.

Guests watched spellbound while over a dozen Cirque du Soleil acrobats gyrated, juggled and gesticulated to rhythms played by live musicians.

A variety of children's activities kept the younger generation happy throughout the afternoon, while young and old alike enjoyed a sweet Canadian treat known as Nanaimo Bars.

More than 900 Canadians and friends of Canada in Jordan joined in the outdoor celebrations.

The event raised over 8,000 JD, which is being donated to the RBG and the Jordan Education for Women Empowerment and Learning Society (JEWELS). JEWELS supports women’s graduate education in Canada through a scholarship programme for exceptionally deserving Jordanian women.

A special thank you from the RBG and the Embassy of Canada to the event's sponsors: Middle East Payment Services, Arab Orient Insurance Company, Zain, Business Development Center, Arab Potash, GMKhoury, Arab Consultants Bureau, Wajih Contracting Co.
