The RBG is the official Jordanian focal point of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation 2011 – 2020

12 October 2016, the Council of Ministers, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, Dr. Hani Mulki, decided on activating Jordan's role on applying the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation 2011 – 2020, and to delegate the Royal Botanic Garden of Jordan to be the focal point to Jordan in international activities related to this issue.

The aim of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation is to conserve plant diversity, and to utilize it in a sustainable and equitable manner, and to promote education and awareness in the field of plant diversity, and to emphasize the importance for all forms of life on Earth.

The Royal Botanic Garden is an active member of the National Committee of Biodiversity chaired by the founder of the Garden, HRH Princess Basma bint Ali.
