The largest of the Acacia trees, at 20 m in height; rounded crown

Leaves: Hairy; small dot gland at the base of leaves; 2 cm spines at leaf nodes

Flowers: Fragrant yellow flower spikes that produce spiral pods

Flowering: Early summer

Note: Carries leaves only in dry seasons; provides shade and food for livestock in summer. Sap is used as gum arabic.

Habitat: Semi-arid regions with sandy soil and underground water, Jordan River Valley
