The Programs Department is responsible for identifying the necessary needs to develop and support the work of the garden's directorates, in addition to the requirements essential for achieving the garden's strategic objectives by establishing new programs that work in integration with the various directorates of the garden. The department determines the needs and priorities required to ensure the effective execution of the activities and tasks assigned to the directorates. It also responds to the current and future requirements related to implementing the garden's strategic goals to ensure the optimal achievement of results.

The department works on collecting data, information, documents, studies, and scientific publications, in addition to contributing to the preparation of strategies and policies regulating the activities of the directorates to achieve the criteria for institutional accreditation of the garden. Furthermore, the department opens avenues for cooperation between the garden and international and national institutions, enhancing partnership across various fields that serve national and strategic goals of the Gardens.

In addition to the above, the Programs Department is currently managing a program for the rehabilitation of vegetation cover in cooperation with the local community. The garden also plans to establish specialized capacity-building and training programs to enhance the technical capacities of the garden's staff and to train technical personnel from various local and international institutions.
